Monumental pivot doors
Steel-framed entries that swing on a concealed floor spindle - doors up to 12 feet tall and 600 pounds that move at the touch of a hand. Welded, ground, and finished as a single architectural plane.

Architectural metal - made to order
Obsidian Threshold designs and fabricates custom pivot doors and driveway gates in raw steel - engineered with builders and architects who don't settle for catalog hardware.
What we build

Steel-framed entries that swing on a concealed floor spindle - doors up to 12 feet tall and 600 pounds that move at the touch of a hand. Welded, ground, and finished as a single architectural plane.
A polyamide isolation core severs the heat path through the frame, so a wall of raw steel performs to spec in any climate. No condensation, no cold bridge - the same detail that lets curtain-wall facades stay sealed, brought to the front door.

Cantilever and swing gates fabricated to the grade of the drive, with hidden automation, intercom integration, and finishes that read as part of the architecture rather than bolted onto it. Steel that secures the property without ever looking like security.

How it works
We work directly alongside your design and construction team, owning the metal from first measurement to final balance on site.
We sit with you, your architect, and the drawings. We talk tolerances, sightlines, and how the piece has to feel in the hand before anything is cut.
Shop drawings, structural calcs, and thermal modeling. Every weld, hinge, and break is detailed and approved before steel is ordered.
Built in our shop by the same hands start to finish. Cut, welded, ground flush, and hand-finished to the exact patina or coating you specified.
Delivered and set by our own crew, plumbed and balanced on site. We don't leave until the door swings true and the gate tracks silent.
